Dear Penguin Families,

First, I hope this message finds you and all your friends and family healthy and safe! These are some crazy times we are living in, but I am certain we will come out of this battered but not beaten. I think I speak for the whole Cabana Club/Penguin community, that if during this time you find yourself in need of anything, please do not hesitate to reach out. I might not have what you need at the time, but I am sure as a community we can find it. I am confident that soon enough we will all be enjoying each other's company in person and hanging by the pool! Until then, stay safe.

Onto some important updates as it pertains to the Penguins Swim Team and what a possible season looks like as of now. First let me address Jr. Guard Prep and April Stroke Clinic. We are working closely with the various Jr Guard programs to possibly re-scheduling Jr. Guard Prep. Due to this, we are putting anything related to Jr Guard Prep on hold until the ability to make a final decision is possible. If you are in need of a refund for an un-started session, you can request that at this time, but we can't promise a spot available for your child in the event that we are able to reschedule the session. The sessions that did start will be eligible for a partial refund if we are unable to re-schedule them at a later time. April Stroke Clinic is canceled as the pool is closed at least through the end of the month. Refunds will be processed and arranged for those who had already registered and paid.

So, what does a possible swim season look like? I can assure you that the league and all the other teams are looking at every possibility. First and foremost, we will not look at any option that puts anybody's health or safety at risk. For that reason, we will be closely following the guidance by both the state and federal governments as well as various governing bodies like USA Swimming. Our priority #1 is the well- being and safety of our swimmers, coaches and families! As of right now, the earliest start to a swim season would be May 18th. If this becomes a reality, and to be honest it is a very long shot, we would be able to salvage the full meet schedule except for relay finals. It has been determined that every option available will not include relay finals.

If May 18th is not realized, the league is working on backup plans and schedules for start dates of June 1st, 15th and 29th. Each schedule will present its own challenges and variations, but the objective is to maximize whatever portion of the summer we will have available to us. If the season is not able to start by June 29th, it has been decided that we would most likely forgo a formal season and look for alternative "camp" style swim activities at that time. Although I am unsure of the final details of what we will be doing, I wanted to push out as much information as possible. Please stay tuned for more updates as they become available.

Registration for the season is still open and I encourage all families to continue with registration. However, no payments will be due at this time. Registering will allow us to plan accordingly with the coaching staff and volunteer needs. Once the final plan for the summer is known, details along with payment details will be made at that time.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me or Coach Cory. We will do our best to get back to you with whatever information we have at the time. Please look for a formal update in early May as the next scheduled league board meeting is set for May 1st.

It’s that time of year again to start thinking about getting your swimmers ready for summer swim team! Here are a couple of dates you’ll need to know to get your swimmers registered and ready to compete!

Register Early! There are a limited number of spots on the team available. Registration is for Cabana Club members only. High school swimmers do not need to be Cabana club members. High School Swimmers must be at least a high school freshman this past year.
